I was turning this hollow vessel, and had about 2 more minutes of work left on it, when it fell off the lathe and broke into several pieces! I picked them up, and put them away, because the wood was just too pretty to throw away. A few days later, I went back to it, smoothed away most of the jagged edge except for a few places, and let it dry and warp so that the sides look like they are in the process of coming together. It's actually a better piece now, as you can admire the wild grain pattern from both the inside and the outside. |
